This year marks the 21st year of Star Ball which nationally has raised over $13m for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Funding helps Starlight to brighten the lives of seriously ill children, teenagers and their families throughout Australia.
Star Ball Gala events, held annually on the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Darwin and Canberra, provide the perfect platform for organisations to promote their products and services to a select corporate and social market within each city.
Star Ball brings guests together in a magnificently themed ballroom, providing a great experience through premium entertainment and service.
In 2018 the Starlight Children’s Foundation celebrates 30 years of brightening the lives of sick kids by turning pain, fear and stress into fun, joy and laughter.
Starlight relies purely on the generosity of individuals, organisations and the community for funding, so thank you to the Star Ball community for your crucial and ongoing support of Starlight.
Starlight’s mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children, teenagers and their families turning the pain, fear and stress associated with hospitalisation and treatment into fun, joy and laughter.
The sad reality is that every minute of every day a child is admitted to hospital in Australia. Unfortunately, thousands of these children and young people are then faced with a diagnosis that can change their life, and the lives of their family, forever.
Starlight programs support the child and family through their journey providing them the opportunity to be distracted from the pain, fear and stress of their hospitalisation and treatment and to simply be a child again.
Starlight delivers a range of programs across Australia in paediatric hospitals, health services in regional and remote areas, and through an online platform.
Starlight programs include: Captain Starlight, Starlight Express Rooms, Starlight TV, Rocket Rounds (ward based program), the Healthier Futures Initiative (Captain Starlight visits kids in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities), Livewire and Starlight Wishgranting.
Since its establishment in 1988, Starlight has expanded to become the broadest-reaching children’s charity in Australia supporting children and teenagers of all ages, regardless of their illness or injury. Starlight has also been ranked as Australia’s most trusted charity for Children and Young People (AMR’s 2017 Charity Reputation Index).
There is a Starlight Express Room in every children’s hospital in Australia and over 150 Captain Starlights land on earth every day to brighten the lives of seriously ill children.
In 2017 Starlight granted it’s 10,000th Wish and grants more than one Starlight Wish every day.
